Michael Jackson once said, “This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye, but the dance lives on.” How true are these words, or rather how beautifully are these quoted.
Dance is one of the most beautiful form of art. It is the practice where the body brings out the beauty of the inner soul to represent the emotions the heart holds. Every posture is the representation of love. Love for ourselves, love for others. Love for the nature and love for the Almighty.
Dance sometime is love, sometime is anger. Sometime it is aggression, sometime it if relief. Sometime it is passion, sometime it is possession. It comes in all forms, it all situations, and under all circumstances.
For ages, dancers like Fred Astaire, Martha Graham, Rudolf Nureyev, Anna Pavlova and many others have inspired millions of people from their times and of our times as well. Their dance forms, postures, expressions have left a benchmark in the history which in unbreakable till date.
Dance is an act of expression. As quoted in the move Any Body Can Dance, “We dance to express, not to impress.” Dance has always been the best way to express ourselves. Our fears, insecurities, sadness; all can find their way out through dance.
Every beat of music, when connects to the soul, it brings out the immense urge to convey whatever is stored up inside of us. Every posture, is the word that the inner soul ants to speak. Every expression is the feeling that the heart has held on for a long time.
Be it Western Dance forms like Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Tango, or be it our Traditional Dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Manipuri or Oddisi, every dance has a language of its own. Every dance has a voice of its own. Every dancer has the responsibility to use themselves as the speakers of that voice, of that language.
On this World Dance Day, let us celebrate dance as a work of love, as a work of passion. Let us rejoice it as an excellence of art, and inner beauty. Let us dance once for ourselves, and many a times for those vulnerable times when we never thought we would come this far. Let us dance for the victory, let us dance for the loss. Let us dance for the hatred, let us dance for the love, just how Paulo Coelho said, “When you dance, you can enjoy the luxury of being you.”
