A Press Meet was organised by All India Bullion Jewellers & Swarnkar Action Committee (AIBJS) to show their agitation to roll back the Excise duty imposed on jeweller fraternity. The Press Meet was organised at Constitutional Club of India.
With no progress in talks in regards with
the decision to roll back the imposition of 1 % excise duty, All India Bullion Jewellers & Swarnkar Action Committee organised the meet to put forward their concerns and further plan before the media. The dealers announced that they would participate in a sit-in at Delhi “CHALLO DILLI FOR EXCISE HATAO YATRA” which will be attended by All Trade Federations & Associations PAN India, on March 17 in Ram Leela Maidan, 9 am onwards.
Terming levy of 1 percent excise duty on gold as “anti-customer” and “anti-dealer” move, Praveen Goel CMD SUNAR JEWELS AND EXECUTIVE MEMBER OF AIBJS said “The excise guidelines are not practically “implementable”. We urge the Government to withdraw the proposal to impose excise duty till there is proper dialogue and discussion on the subject. Our protest would continue till the Government takes cognisance of our views and acts favourably”.
