The Ambience group celebrated International Women's Day with first of its kind solo photo art exhibition in a static display. The exhibition, aptly titled “A Million Smiles” ‘Photography Alive’ by ace photographer Ashok P Kochhar featured a mammoth collection of one thousand smiling female faces from all walks of life.
The eight-day exhibition has 1000 portraits showcasing an array of breathtaking canvasses of women’s happy faces in vivid forms
and colours. Each of the photographs radiates unbridled enthusiasm, innocence, positive intent and an unmatched human touch.
Deepti Goyal, Head of mall operations, Ambience Mall, said, “As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, it gives me immense pleasure to honour women from all walks of life. Mr Kochhar’s skillful camera work has made each portrait come to life with uninhibited happiness that will leave connoisseur of photography spell bound. I would like to dedicate each of these portraits to all the women in our lives for their compassion, inspiration, unwavering support, sacrifice and being our constant guiding force that made our life successful and accomplished.”
Ashok P Kochhar, the convener of the project said, “The theme of my photography art exhibition “A Million Smiles” ‘Photography Live’ is based on the idea of exuding a happy moment using photography as an art medium. It started as an initiative to capture a few carefree happy faces. We got many wonderful ladies to volunteer and now have a collection of 1000 beautiful smiling portraits. I sincerely hope that every woman has ample reasons to smile everyday and not just on International Women’s day.”.”
A million smiles is a unique initiative by Ashok P Kochhar to create a photo commune and the idea gathered shape through his various workshops in the last two years. In this commune, photo enthusiasts and art lovers not only shared their knowledge but also interacted on innovations and socially relevant concepts in photography. It was a junction where ideas, experience and energy came together for a greater cause.
With many people now taking to photography, the carnival also offered registration services for a professional photography workshop to educate and train enthusiasts about various facets of this limitless art form.
