Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), India’s premier power exchange was conferred with the prestigious Enertia Award for the category “Best Power Exchange in India” at the 7th ENERTIA Awards 2013, at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
This is the second
time in a row IEX has bagged this award.
ENERTIA Awards are South Asia’s pioneering, prestigious and top most awards and the only awards for sustainable energy and power where, such recognition is accorded to the academia and the intellectual student fraternity in India’s top technology and engineering institutions for energy and power along with the top corporations and enterprises in the sector.
Mr. Venkat Chary, Chairman, IEX; Mr. Rajesh K. Mediratta, Director, Business Development, IEX and Mr Akhilesh Awasthy, Director, Market-Operations, IEX received the award from a panel of eminent personalities comprising: Mr B P Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL; Dr Kirit Parikh, Former Member-Energy, Planning Commission; Mr V P Raja, Former Chairman, MERC and Dr D V Kapur of Reliance Industries.
“IEX is at the forefront when it comes to spearheading competition in the Indian power market. This Award indeed motivates us to further achieve excellence and reach new heights in view of immense opportunities and considerable potential that the Indian power market presents”, said Mr. Venkat Chary, Chairman, IEX, while receiving the award.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. A. G. Iyer, Chairman of Jury, ENERTIA AWARDS and Editor-in-Chief and Publisher, ENERTIA said, “The Day-Ahead Market at IEX traded 22 billion units of electricity with a market share of 97% in the last fiscal, setting an unprecedented record. Over the last five years of its operation, the Exchange has emerged as an undisputed market leader not only in power market but also in the Renewable Energy Certificate Market. We are delighted to present them this award for the second consecutive time”.
The 7th ENERTIA Awards 2013 were adjudicated by an eminent industry centric Jury panel under the chairmanship of Prof. A. G. Iyer and Shri. K. Ravi Kumar, former Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.
