This should be an interesting tournament as the matches would be played in Mohali, Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Jaipur and Delhi. I think the Chennai Super kings and if Hyderabad qualify they have an equal chance to win the
tournament.
The Chennai Super kings squad has done very well in the Champion league winning it in 2010 because they have the batting power to chase down scores excess of 180 to 190. Dhoni, Raina, Jadeja, Bravo, Ashwin has a big role to play.
Mumbai Indians without their main bowler Malinga may struggle because at the end of the innings he can bowl yorkers at will. Their batting looks good with Pollard, Karthik, Rohit Sharma and others can contribute.
Rajasthan Royals who finished 3 rd in IPL 2013 has no big match players but they have players who do their job at crucial times, and finally Sunrisers Hyderabad the bowling looks great but the batting looks weak.
I think the pitches in this champion league would be slow and low, if batting surfaces are made the 2 of the Indian IPL teams have chance to reach the semi's and may be one can win this tournament.
The other teams in the tournament are Brisbane Heats, Perth Scrohers, T&T, Lions, Titans. These eight 8 teams are directly into main draw and 2 will qualify from the qualifying round.
I think the matches played in these grounds would see some great matches as Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, 1 qualifying team, Lions and Perth Scrohers , the other group comprises of Titans, Brisbane Heats, Chennai Super kings, T&T and the 2 qualifying team.
The Perth Schorers side has some powerful hitters like shaun Marsh, Liam Davis, and other players which can be dangerous, the Brisbane Heats which are winners of BBL 2013 are also dangerous.
Lions who did well in champion league 2012 comprises of players like Gulam Bodi, Mckenize, Pretious who is hard hitter.
I think from the qualfying matches Hyderabad and Wolves from Pakistan can qualify. So lets see what happens when the action begans on the 17th sept.
As a fan of Cricket I would love to see close matches and some powerful hitting from the top players from India. The stadiums at the grounds would be full. They would come to see Sachin Tendulkar and other top players.
The spinners role in this tournament would be crucial with the balls stopping and not coming on the bat. The first six overs would be crucial and also the fast bowlers role is important as the pitch in Mohali would have bounce and pace.
